I’ve had the opportunity to visit Children’s Book Project and get a tour of their operation. Really impressed with their set up, team, and the work they are doing for San Francisco and the surrounding areas.
Book Bank Program
Our Book Bank Program is our home base and single biggest channel for getting free books into the hands of children who need them. Our welcoming and knowledgeable Book Bank team serve our client partners who come to our Book Bank to select unlimited free books for the children they work with; our supporters who deliver their individual or children’s book drive donations; and our volunteers who help us count and sort the books to get them from our shelves and into kids’ hands as quickly as possible.
Ideally located in San Francisco’s Bayview District, our Book Bank serves the growing demand for children’s books and literacy resources of our partner educators and nonprofit service providers. Our Book Bank accommodates the hundreds of thousands of donated children’s books we process annually; our Read Aloud, Second Reading, Storytime, Teen Ambassador and other literacy and community programs; our part-time staff; and the dozens of volunteers we engage monthly.
