Other Ways to Support Our Mission

A mom or dad in jail has a devastating effect on children in every way, physical and emotional. We bring bags of books from the Children’s Book Project to jail each week so inmates can choose a few and make a recording of themselves reading the book, singing songs, and just talking. We mail these to their children who eventually have a library of books and recordings they can listen to whenever they’re missing their dad!

This terrific program would not be possible if we did not have all the wonderful free books from the Children’s Book Project. The staff and volunteers are invaluable in helping us find just the right story, and hearing their dad’s voice is a huge comfort for children who need to know that separation is not abandonment and dad still loves them.
